About the Pool of Life
'Pool of Life' are the first breast cancer survivor dragon boat racing team in Great Britain. The team was set up in April 2004 under the protective wings of Amathus Dragon Boat Club. Dave Bangs, and Barbara Keenan have both coached 'Pool of Life' for the last 4 years and supported the team in all events.
In September 2006 'Pool of Life' attended the first World Championships in Singapore, successfully winning 3 Bronze medals and a Silver and will be attending the first European Championships in September 2008.
All our members are registered with the British Dragon Boat Association and race at league events all over Great Britain. We are a floating support group supporting breast cancer survivors and their families emotionally and physically.
