For the past year Sainsbury’s customers at the East Prescot Road have been supporting Pool of Life, making donations through bag packing and front of store activities. Colleagues have also been busy fundraising for the charity, either by taking part in our abseil, holding cake sales or organising in store activities. All of this money has enabled Pool of Life to buy a new boat, which will join Hope, our existing dragon boat.
To give something back, our Pool of Life ladies took time out of their weekend to welcome visitors to Sainsbury’s and help raise money for Sports Relief.
On Monday, March 19, Sainsbury’s CEO popped in to the watersports centre to join the Pool of Life members and colleagues from a number of Liverpool stores, to try dragon boating for himself. This was all part of his Sports Relief tour, and part of the the activities that helped raise more than £6million for such a great cause.
To thank him for coming along, and to help remind him of such a fantastic day, he was presented with a copy of the exclusive print the artist Christopher Bibby created for the group. He assured us it will be hung in his office, for him to see every day
