Without our supporters we would be lost. Individuals, groups and companies have all given us encouragement, time, energy and advice.
We recently took the plunge -literally- at Sensor City, abseilling down in teams of two. Many had to overcome a fear of heights before stepping over the edge and trusting their safety to a couple of ropes. It turned out to be a brilliant day, with much laughter, encouragement and cheering as one after another our Pool of Life ladies and many of their supporters went down the side of the building. Here’s some videos and photos of that amazing day:
We kicked off the festive season with a visit to Preston Docks, to paddle with Preston Dragons, sing some songs and share some mulled wine. The sun shone down on us, the paddling was fun and, as ever, the welcome was second to none. Thank you, Preston, for welcoming us.
Some members of Paddlers for Life joined us at the December paddle in Preston. Some of the Pool of Life members were fortunate enough to head up to Ambleside to paddle with the Cumbrian club. It was the last paddle of the season for the paddlers, as conditions are too unpredictable through Winter, so it was wonderful to be able to join them.
Fun, both off and on the water
Our biggest supporter is Amathus, who enable us to get out on the water as much as we do. They are our big brother, leading the way in the dragon boat world and encouraging everyone to learn how to work as a team. Some of our paddlers have gone on to paddle with Amathus ladies, this year bringing home gold after winning the Ladies 500m final in the BDA Nationals. Our former Chair, Christine, and Secretary, Janet, were part of the winning team.
Here they are in action:
